India is a sovereign nation in South Asia. It is the seventh largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country after China, and the most populous democracy in the world.

Four major world religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism originated here, while Islam, Christianity, Judaism and Zoroastrianism arrived here in the first millennium and shaped the region's diverse culture. India is a land of striking contrasts where the extreme orthodox mingles with the very modern. This incredible unity in diversity is one of the country’s greatest fascinations.

Tourists come to India for its wealth of sights, cultural exuberance, diversity of terrain and in search of that special something, an extra punch that only India promises and delivers. Teeming with over a billion people who voice over a million concerns in fifteen hundred different languages, India is where people live with variety, thrive on diversity and are too familiar with largeness to let it boggle them. Mud huts and mansions face off across city streets. Lurid luxury and limp living are inhabitants of the same lane.
